A Family Affair

Jim O’Sullivan would have headed home from last night’s meeting at Beckley Park a proud man.

The evening commenced in memorable fashion when O’Sullivan’s son Sean landed the first win of his career leading all the way in the opening event on Realy Under Fire.

O’Sullivan gave a victorious salute with the whip on the 11 year old son of Courage Under Fire who is trained by his father.

A couple of hours later another one of the O’Sullivan clan was in the winner’s stall when Shannon O’Sullivan too led all the way on the Stephen Clarke trained pacer Monsieur Delacour.

The diminutive horsewoman rated the four year old to perfection as Monsieur Delacour ($7.40) gained a winning break on the home turn scoring by 11 metres from the $3.20 favorite The Dude with What’s Stanley Got in third place.

Jim O’Sullivan, dubbed The King due to his striking resemblance to Elvis Presley, has long been one of the country’s leading horsemen putting the polish on Inter Dominion winner My Lightning Blue along with Margaret Shannon, Quite Famous, Its Motor Power, Our Brenray and Stormy Morn.
