Amazing Dream

GEELONG trained mare Amazing Dream enhanced her status as the rising star in Victorian harness racing with a stunning win in the Group 2 Kilmore Pacing Cup. The Nathan Purdon trained four-year-old settled two horses back in the running line before driver Anthony Butt pulled out three wide in front of Geelong track record holder Mach Dan with a lap to travel. Despite racing wide without cover for the last 1000 metres of the race, Amazing Dream ($4.30) fought on tenaciously in the home straight to score by a head from Mach Dan with Malcolms Rhythm two and a half metres away third. “I’m so lucky to have a chance with this mare, she’s something else,” Purdon said. ‘She has that ability to find something extra in the last 400 metres, when most of the others are struggling which really stands her out,” he said. The win follows the daughter of Bettors Delight’s victory in the Group 1 Blacks A Fake at Albion Park last month. In a couple of weeks Amazing Dream will attempt to create history by becoming the first of her sex to enjoy success in the Group 1 $300,000 Prydes Easifeed Victoria Cup.
