Maori Law Rules
TOPLINE trotter Maori Law will be aimed at this year’s Inter Dominion series in Sydney after returning to the winner’s stall in the John Slack Memorial Cup at Ballarat last Friday night.
Trained by the Bannockburn based Richard and Emmett Brosnan team, Maori Law worked to the early lead from his favorable draw before bursting clear in the home straight scoring by eight metres from Im Ready Jet with McLovin ($3.80 fav) three metres away third.
Plagued by injury in recent years, Maori Law was having only his fourth start for the Brosnans after owner Fred Crews transferred the eight year old from Bill Morgan’s stable last year.
“I was very happy with his last start at Geelong behind Majestuoso who is an elite trotter,” Emmett Brosnan said.
“He has been gradually building up his fitness and really his only issues have been the wellness of his feet,” he said.
Maori Law, who now boasts a record of 16 wins from 48 starts, will be set for the feature races in the second half of the year according to Brosnan.
“The Inter Dominion is his main goal and he has now given us the confidence that he will be competitive in the good races,” he said.
