Father & Son Dream
NATHAN Purdon, a recent addition to the local training ranks in Geelong, combined with his father Mark to chalk up his first Group 1 success when Amazing Dream scored a thrilling win in the $250,000 The Rising Sun at Albion Park on Saturday night.
Amazing Dream enjoyed the a cosy run behind the leader and $2.70 favorite Krug before making full use of the sprint lane in the home straight scoring by a head from Copy That.
Mark Purdon answered an SOS call from his son to interrupt a holiday in Queensland to drive the mare.
“It was extra special having Dad in the sulky,” Nathan said.
“There was lots of pressure went with getting mare after the incredible things she has achieved in New Zealand. It plays on your mind.”
With Mark Purdon flying back to New Zealand this week, a new driver has to be found for Amazing Dream.
“The plan was for Anthony Butt to drive her in the big mares’ race next week but I’m not 95% sure that will be the case now,” he said.
